Inclusive Education Support for Childhood Cancer Survivors Living with Disabilities

Many childhood cancer survivors living with disabilities face barriers to staying in school because of poverty, stigma and the indirect costs of education. While Uganda’s Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) programs offer free or subsidized tuition, the hidden costs such as meals, uniforms, scholastic materials keep survivors out of school.

To bridge this gap, CADAC launched SHULE KWA WOTE, meaning “Education for All”, a dedicated initiative that facilitates access, retention, and success of survivors in government primary and secondary schools.

The next academic year, 2026, will mark the official start of the program.

How SHULE KWA WOTE Works

CADAC supports beneficiaries enrolled in government UPE and USE schools, covering essential termly costs that their families cannot afford:

Our programs aim to address housing instability by offering emergency, transitional, and permanent housing options, coupled with essential resources like financial counseling, job training, and community engagement. By empowering people with the stability of a safe home, we foster a foundation for improved well-being, personal growth, and hope for a brighter future.
