2020/2021 – CADAC was founded by Dr. Anne Merriman who recognized the needs of cancer survivors from poor communities. During her years with Hospice Africa Uganda she had seen several survivors end in destitution, often as street beggars, and identified their need of assistance.

1993 – Dr. Merriman founded Hospice Africa Uganda which pioneered the concept of palliative care, treatment that was previously unavailable for the vast majority of Ugandans.

1994 IHPCA – she established the Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care in Africa offering diplomas and degree level programs to students from all over Africa and beyond.

1990´s – present, an International Program was developed to help other African countries develop a similar approach to palliative care

CADAC has a board of trustees, an administrator and an advisory board.

Currently, nursing, physiotherapy and occupational therapy services are provided by external volunteer staff.

CADAC has no expenses. All services are being provided voluntarily. Costs for beneficiary training and accommodation have been covered by charitable donors. Once the center has been built, there will be a need for the following skill sets – physiotherapy, vocational therapy, possibly a nurse, various vocational trades teachers etc. There will also be a need for administrative staff.
