Vicky has been a a paraplegic since the age of three, after a spinal Burkitt’s lymphoma. Through CADAC, she has become a talented dress maker, having studied at a college in Mbarara, which has been adapted for disabled pupils. She has been supplied with a sewing machine and has now her own micro business.

After successful surgery for her cancer, Catherine became wheelchair dependent due to her bilateral amputation of her legs. She relies on her mother as a home carer. She has always been excellent at crochet and makes beautiful garments. She was provided with a sewing machine nad is learning home tailoring. Catherine has sponsors in the USA, Russia and Scotland who assist with her rent, daily needs and medications.

She is currently writing a book about her experiences and this will soon be published by an editor in Oxford, UK.

Muhamad is 19 years old. Presented to HAU, at two years of age with an advanced retinoblastoma of the left eye. Eventually, her completed a successful course of radiotherapy. His eye had to be removed surgically and he is still awaiting a prosthetic eye. He received support from CADAC and is now a trainee plumber.
